Self Audit

What skills have I developed so far?

  • Rehearsal skills
  • Analyzing texts (breaking them down), research cultural/historical background of text
  • Evaluating - being more helpfully critical of myself and others
  • Deeper Research of my character
  • Discovering my objective (what does my character want, how can i achieve it)
  • Spending emotion and letting breath take over mind
  • Fully opening up my body (physically) letting the creative instincts take over
  • Textual analysis and character building
  • Working in an ensemble, understanding energy on-stage
  • Getting into character before walking on-stage
  • Responding to audiences on-stage
  • Being able to control voice and breath with breathing exercises
  • Voice and body working in unison
  • Multimedia performance (1984)
  • Counter mask (body is portraying something different to a mask)
  • Don't just say lines for the sake of it - feel the words
  • Every scene is a chase seen
  • Never neutral on-stage even if character is not talking
  • Body and face each portraying something different

Have you learnt any skills elsewhere?

In English i was able to learn to analyse text to the point of being able to critique and state improvements successfully. Also dancing helped me to control my breathing and to portray a story with my body.

Areas to improve?

I think that i can improve by being more confident and really pushing myself physically and with movements, when playing my objects play it on the spectrum from low to high always pushing myself so it comes natural when playing the character, don't say the lines for the sake of it or because i feel obliged - say it because of the characters instinct to say it.
